I've been saying for a while now that I am going to try my hand at embroidery.  But alas, I never really got around to it.  Yesterday, despite NEEDING to finish a quilting project before saturday I had this urge to embroider.  Something.  Anything.  So, that of course meant 4+ hours of googling embroidery designs, and how to's and what not.

In the past, I have done the same thing for quilting.  I have found there are A LOT of helpful tutorials, and step by step blogs to follow etc.  I didn't find this with embroidery.  I do not know if it is because I am just not looking in the right spot (although one would hope after 4+ hours I'd have found the 'right' spot?) or if it's just that there are none?

I have found oodles of 'Embroidery Stitch Dictionary' type things.  But what I wanted was a simple beginner project, where someone went from start to finish, step by step.  Tools, chart, how to read the chart.  What stitches to do where, what works with what, etc.

So, in lieu of this I thought fine.  I'm gonna start with something fairly basic.  A simple outline.  Here is my finished product.  Unfortunately, I cannot remember where this design came from, but it was a free design, so if the owner comes across it - THANK YOU! :)

I can't wait to start on something else! But first, I MUST finish this quilting project for Saturday or I will have nothing to learn how to 'Stitch in the Ditch' and 'Free Motion Quilt' on!

  1. I like it, I am seriously thinking about giving this a go over the winter months.

  2. You should! :) Would love to see some of your work! :)

Although funnily enough, I did find myself searching for a highlighter to mark off what I'd done i do when cross stitching! lol :)
