My son is almost 7 and has lost his first tooth recently. He has another one that is holding on by what one can imagine is only sheer luck! But the Tooth Fairy has had a bit of a dilemma. She has a devil of a time getting their rewards to them without making a racket and risking waking the kids up! So she asked me to make something to help her. Something to hold onto the tooth for safe keeping.
After a bit of googling around on the interwebz I came up with this. A few days ago I had to visit the local Spotlight and a few sheets of felt just happened to fall into my basked. I had been meaning to make it all week but kept getting sidetracked. But my children go visit their dads house today for a week. I in normal fashion have left it to the last minute! So today I sat down to get to work. It was a bit of a rush job and I'm not 100% happy with the embroidery but gosh darn, it turned out better than I expected!
Here is my result:
Hand drawn shape, hand embroidered, hand cut out, machine sewn, but hand stuffed! Whipped up in a couple of hours .. It could have been achieved in a shorter time but it is school holidays which means movie time and we are working our way through the Star Wars movies.
There is a pocket on the back to keep the tooth in safely. It is also a good secure spot for the Tooth Fairy to leave any rewards or notes! I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier!
Here's an idea of how big it is. That is a standard DVD case next to it.
Now my 9 year old daughter has put in a request for one too. I'm not sure if I will make any more in the felt, or if I will just use quilters fabric. I will have to experiment with my daughters one.
Until next time!
